Family farming since 1906
Prairie Farm Company + Schlichting Farms Inc.
Two families. One farm.
The Wojtanowicz and Schlichting families work in partnership to operate our fourth-generation farm in central Minnesota.

We raise more than 6,600 acres of food — potatoes, edible beans, corn, peas, alfalfa and winter rye, nearly all raised under irrigation.
Our shared values
Sustainability
As pioneers of the regenerative agriculture concept, we use sustainable farming best practices, like crop rotations to increase soil fertility and crop yield; low-pressure irrigation and watering crops at night to conserve water; and cover cropping to prevent erosion, build soil organic matter, and retain nutrients. Our operations are also partially solar-powered as of 2019!
Conservation
At Prairie Farms, we know that the health of our soil and water is vital, because these precious resources determine the success of our crops each year. We are committed to building soil health by retaining nutrients commonly found in the sandy soils of central Minnesota, as well as using water management practices that conserve the quality and quantity of our water.
Innovation
Our farm is committed to innovation, partnering with the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District on research that keeps us up-to-date on the latest technologies and the smartest fertilizing and watering techniques that protect our natural resources.
